Fun, Fashion & Philanthropy

HairToStay on the Runway is a fundraiser October 18th to benefit scalp cooling patients through HairToStay.org. Scalp cooling is a revolutionary treatment that allows patients to retain their hair during chemotherapy. Earning FDA clearance in the U.S. in 2015, scalp cooling is not yet covered by most insurance, placing it out of reach for many patients.

HELPING CANCER PATIENTS KEEP THEIR HAIR

HairToStay, a national nonprofit, helps chemo patients keep their hair by providing subsidies, typically between $1,000 and $1,500, to patients who could not otherwise afford scalp cooling. HairToStay has awarded over 900 subsidies since its founding in 2016.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Following a reception of food and libations from some of the Bay Area’s hottest restaurateurs, vintners and brewery, the evening program commences in Kanbar Hall. There will be a scalp cooling demo and HairToStay recipients will share personal journeys. Internationally renowned music artist Carlos Reyes will perform a live set. Dr. Laura Esserman, a world-famous UCSF breast cancer surgeon will sing a duet with Vanessa Bousay. Two exciting runway shows will cap the night. The first show will feature hairstyles by Hector Estrada Salon, make-up by Chantecaille, and clothing from around the world by MAC Modern Appealing Clothing. The finale will spotlight clothing by drag and fashion icon Mr. David, and the House of More! Attendees will have an opportunity to bid on exciting and unique items in live and silent auctions, and enter a raffle to win custom Levi’s apparel and experiences.

Sponsorship Changes Lives

Every $1,000 transforms one patient’s cancer experience with the opportunity to avoid hair loss, one of the most devastating side effects of chemotherapy. This year, HairToStay has a goal of raising $1million which will enable 1,000 people to save their hair, their privacy, identity and a sense of control and well-being.
